Bought this phone for my mum on the last £374 deal which I thought was pretty good for the phone you were getting. I shared a review on the previous thread, but I'll share some highlights.
Phone is very clean, no bloat to speak of, just 4 HTC VR based apps that can easily be uninstalled.
Stock Android 13 which the addition of the HTC launcher with google news support on the home screen and the famous weather clock widgets which are great.
Specs are pretty much flagship par the processor but in this day and age, I value efficiency more than raw power as I feel that we are already at the point of a capable fast device at more moderately priced handsets. The fact that you have 12GB ram is the selling point here, there is no issue with running apps/keeping them in memory.
I set the phone up for mum with the classic 3 button style navigation enabled. Fingerprint and face unlock are also set up and work nicely.
Highlights:
- 12GB RAM, 256GB internal UFS storage as well as memory card support and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
- Fast wired and 15W Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
- Phone can be connected up to a dock and has display out so it works with other peripherals to provide a Dex like experience. Even Pixels do not support this!
- Nice Amoled screen with 60/90/120Hz refresh rate options.
- Notification LED (Although this is probably here as there is no Always On Display, however I prefer this. You can see if a phone is charged/charging from a distance away due to the change in colour).
-IP67 resistance as well as Gorilla Glass Victus. Even though the back is plastic, it feels very durable.
- Security updates are coming through more regularly than initially anticipated.
Cons:
- No battery health options. There is no stock method to limit battery charging to 80% for example like Sony phones can do.
- No fancy case options. HTC used to do fancy cases however there is only one genuine one available. I would have hoped for a flip case that had open to wake and close to sleep. My mum misses this.
- Feature Android updates will be non-existant/limited however Android 13 is very stable. For someone who needs a core phone (And receiving security updates) personally this is good enough.
